Author Series: D. D. Larsen

D. D. Larsen

Introduce yourself

Hi my name is D. D. Larsen and I’m from small town Colorado. Currently I am based out of Colorado!

What initially got you into writing?

I have always been an avid reader. One day about two years ago I just sat down and decided to start writing. About a year later it was a book.

Who are your biggest influences and why?

I’m a big 50 Shades of Grey and Cassandra Clare fan. I’m sure they influence my writing but most of what I write about just comes into my head.

Are you traditionally published or self-published?

I’m self-published! Didn’t know much about the process and it seemed like the easiest way to get my book out there. Now I like the freedom. I get to write, what I want when I want it!

How important is writing as an art form in the world, today?

Extremely, as we move more and more towards the world of technology we need to not lose the art of writing. It’s an expression of one's self and for me it is very important to help clear my head. All books are important, they don’t have to be educational to be beneficial.

Do you have a set process when starting a new project?

I already have the idea in my head before I start, write a quick outline/starting direction and then just see what happens. I think a book needs to be as long as it needs to be.

What has been your favourite book to write and why?

The current series I am writing, The Academy Series, has been so much fun. It has romance and a little bit of fantasy to it. I’m always a fan for the sexy wolf (wolf warriors in my book).

Which genre do you enjoy writing in?

All my books have been romantic suspense’s. As I continue to write I might drift to other areas but I think there will always be a romantic aspect.

Is writing your primary source of income?

No, at the moment it is an expensive hobby. I write on weekends and after work. I love it and would love to make it a fulltime thing.

What advice can you give our readers, should they wish to pursue writing?

Just do it. It’s not going to be perfect, you just have to get the words down.

What does success mean to you?

Right now, success would be mean making money on a book. Earning back more than I have spent.

What projects are you currently working on?

Current WIP’s are The Academy Series book 1, Destiny and book 2, Bound. Hopefully they will have a cover and a blurb on Goodreads within a month.

What are your hopes for the future?

Just keep enjoying writing and hope people enjoy it!
